Question:
I am having trouble getting insurance to pay. Any suggestions?

I had WLS in July 2001. BC/BS of Alabama paid the hospital and doctor bill, but not the anesthesiologist. I called and the claim was re-submitted, but as of today, it has not been paid. Does this happen often? I asked how can you have surgery with anesthesia, the two go together.    — [Anonymous] (posted on December 2, 2001)

I used to do billing for anesthesiologists and this DOES happen often. You need to have the hospital resubmit the bill and show they paid the hospital bill. It also might not hurt to call the insurance company and explain to them the problem. I'm sure it's just an error on their part.
