Question:
Any surgeons in Central Florida performing WLS accepting Medicaid/Medipass????

Hi there WLS peers, i was actually able to speak to someone in the Medicaid Approval Dept., and he informed me that medicaid coverage for WLS surgery is not the problem as long as you qualify as "medically needy",however, its finding the surgeons that will perform the surgery accepting Medicaid. Although these are not the only docs in FL that do the surgery, these are some that others have used. If you click on the "view" for the surgeons, it will show you what insurance has been accepted by them...Good luck!

Sylvia, I live in Ocala and have Dr. Jawad. He is an excellent surgeon and has an excellent "aftercare" program along with support group meetings. The previous poster was right about going to the "find a surgeon" page of this website. However, if a certain insurance isn't listed, that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't accept it. It could mean that they haven't had any patients yet that used that certain ins. If you find a surgeon that you want to use, give his office a call and ask if they accept medicaid. Good luck to you.
