Question:
Has anyone skipped the 6 month diet requirement for approval?

Has anyone gotten approved with Aenta Managed Care without having 6 consectutive months of documented weight-loss attemps?    — K S. (posted on November 25, 2002)

Are you talking about 6 consecutive months prior to approval? I had no such requirement with my Aetna HMO...JR

I HAVE AETNA PPO OPEN CHOICE, I WAS DENIED 2 WKS AGO FOR NOT HAVING A SUPERVISED DIET! WELL 2 MTHS AGO I WENT TO MY PCP AND HAD HIM RERECORD MY WEIGHT AND TELL ME TO GO ON A 15OO CAL. DIET, NOW I GO EVERY 4-6 WKS TO GET WEIGHT! BUT I DID HIRE WALTER LINSTROM OBESITY LAWYER TO FIGHT MY APPEAL! IF I HAD TO STAY ON A SUPERVISED DIET IT WOULD BE APRIL OR SO BEFORE MY SUPERVISED DIET WOULD BE UP! THEN WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO REQUEST NEXT! GOOD LUCK! CYNDI

I too hired Walter Lindstrom, it was overturned within a couple weeks. They use that reason for everyone, because they know how difficult it is to record.
