Question:
How long does it take to get a decision on an external review?

I have been denied twice by M-Plan HMO. My final appeal is an external review. The packet went out to the external review company 2/28/03. How long will it take? I am very anxious. Thanks, Donna    — Donna O. (posted on March 7, 2003)

My surgical request was also sent to an external reviewer for consideration. My surgeon and myself sent information along to this reviewer as well as Cariten, my insurance provider. I was approved after about one month and had my surgery on 09/26/02. Cariten has decided as of 01/01/03 to no longer cover WLS.
