Question:
Has anyone been approved with UHC Choice Plus?

Two weeks for my approval in January,2003. I had no list of qualifications but I know that mine was considered medical necessity. I just went to my surgeon and they sent me to have a psyc. eval. upper G.I. Stress test and pulmonary function. These were NOT required by my ins. but my doctors group do these on all there patients to clear you for surgery then they send it to the ins. company regardless of the kind of ins. you have. So, the group, not the ins. require this. My pcp was left completely out of the loop and still does not know I had surgery unless they sent him a copy of the discharge report which I think they do. I did not have to involve him in any way and I guess it is a good thing because I don't think he would have been very supportive.

I had mine Jan 8'02. As long as the doc was in my plan there was no problem. I was 400 lbs so I met all of the criteria needed for the surgery. I was at least 100 lbs over and my BMI was 45. I had problem with my back and knee's I got approved right away. AS far as The Tummy Tuck I was denied. They said that it was for cosmetic reason. It wasn't but thatanother story.

I was approved in 2 weeks, only criteria was to be 100 pounds overweight.
