Question:
Anyone appeal a denial for BPD/DS when RNY was insurances preferred surgery and win?

Yes -- and in some cases, and with more frequency every day, it can be done. I am in the middle of it right now, and know two people in my area (one other person with Aetna, one with BC/BS HMO) who have recently had their denials of the DS (but approved for RNY) overturned. If you think the DS is best for YOU, go for it -- appeal the hell out of them! The insurance companies are slowly starting to "get it" and the more that people appeal, the sooner they will stop this ridiculousness of preventing their insureds from getting the surgery they need and deserve.
