I have UHC and they did deny my because of the exclusion and they consider it to be cosmetic surgery. I was waiting on an appeal but my employer is changing the insurance at the end of the month

This exclusion sucks! It would be better to just say they do not cover it. Cosmetic my butt!!! Comments like this would make me want to take this to court as the NIH does not consider it cosmetic. Either look for new insurance or figure out how you can self-pay. Sorry you are being denied for such a ridiculous reason.

Suprised to hear the wls wasn't covered. Had no problem with that. Now plastics afterwards.... forget it! 2" of med records showing need and they haven't approved...

Does this incurance plan cover breast reduction surgery? If they do, then this exclusion for WLS really burns me up. They can justify breast reduction surgery because it helps to relieve pain and improve the ability to function in a normal manner. I would think this could be appealed on this basis. After all, doesn't WLS do that too, only to a greater extent?

I guess they need a little educating, maybe subit copies of NIH statement and other supporting documentation wihta appeal.
