Question:
Why can't I get a definitive answer from anybody? DESPERATE...

I am getting conflicting information from my insurance company...I got one denial saying that it was because of the exclusion (obesity not morbid obesity) and one says that an independent physician will be looking into as part of the appeal process. I can't get my employer to committ to anything yet either. I have provided them with ADA information and my intention not to let this go. What now? Please help! I need this surgery desperately! — Sharon R. (posted on December 17, 2000)

Hi Sharon, I know this is a frustrating time. If you'd like to use my Letter to Insurance in your appeal, please do so. Many have used it with great success. Good luck to you!

Hi Sharon.. I feel your pain!! I am dealing with Blue Choice also and let me tell you they are on my LAST NERVE!! hahahah.. I know that most of it is the anxiety of wanting instant gratification and the surgery when i snap my fingers.. but I was denied on the first request because Blue Choice says that it's not medically necessary. I am 5 4 and weigh 240lbs.. i have a bmi of 42... with three or four co morbitities what in the heck are they thinking??? I sent an appeal letter that was faxed on 12-8 and as of 12/14 they say they never received it so I faxed again that day. AAAHHHHH the part that really erks me is that the State of MO (who i work for) will drop coverage at the end of the year.... makes you wonder if that's why i have not been approved???? Please feel free to email and vent... if you like i can also send you a copy of my appeal letter.
