Question:
has anyone ever had there medical records lost?

I am still researching surgery and have an appointment with the surgeon. But I have been reading a lot of post about having to summit medical documentation for 5 years. I am ex-military and they cannot locate my records. My current PCP only has my records for the last 18 months. Any suggestions? I have Cigna POS insurance Thanks in advance    — Natalie J. My insurance wanted proof of failed attempts at weight loss. I did optifast in 1986 & 1987 and nobody had any records of it. Even the hospital. They showed my childrens births 25+ years ago, but not that.

We are a military family.Prior to going to my PCP referral appointment, I discovered that the Navy had lost my medical records. No one has been able to locate them since. I was really nervous that this would "blow" my chances for surgery, but my PCP did not seem fazed by it at all. They accepted a copy of all of my previous diet attempts that I printed out at home. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have Tricare. I only used my medical records from them. I married my husband Sept 01 and submitted for Surgery 01/03. The only records I had was from that time period. I wouldnt worry that much about it. If your surgeon has been doing this for awhile his staff will word the request correctly and approval shouldnt be a problem. I was approved in 24 hours. I was really concerned that it might take forever. Good luck lap rny 03/03/03 253/189/135
