Depending on your state, they may have a "high risk pool" which hard to insure, uninsured can get coverage. I live in Texas and work for a large ins.co. I actually underwriter individual policies. We often refer to the Texas High Risk Pool when we cannot offer coverage to people that do not pass our medical underwriting guidelines. I do not know if other states have this opportunity, but it's sure worth a try to find out. Good Luck.

I checked your profile and see that you live in Alabama. Does your friend? If so, I did a little research on the insurers page and found where Alabama State Vocational Rehab paid for someone's surgery. Might be worth looking into. Hope this helps. Shelley
