Question:
Has anyone recived a letter of pre certifaction with an admission and discharge date?

I recived this letter with and admission date and an expected discharge date,Has anyone ever had anything such as this?If so did you have your surgery on the date it stated in your letter? I called to make a sure I was approved and I was.    — Robin C. (posted on May 28, 2002)

My pre-certification notice had an admissions date and then the number of days I was pre-certified to be hospitalized. I have Aetna, PPO Open Choice. I changed surgeons and hospitals from my original pre-certification and received an up-dated notice of pre-certification and I did have my surgery on the date for which I was pre-certified. But, I think your surgeon's office can change the dates, with your insurance company's approval, if need be. Your discharge date can be changed as well if there are complications, etc.

I have BCBS in VA and had this same thing. I called the person at my surgeon's office who handles insurance and she told me that she had to give them a date for it to get approved, so she just picked a date on the calendar. Once I get my actual date she will call the insurance company to reschedule with the. She says this is normal procedure and changing the date won't affect my approval. The only thing about it was that my real date ended up being 1 month later than the fake date and that was kind of a letdown once I realized I wouldn't really be having the surgery so soon.
