Question:
ANYONE HAD HUMANA HMO??????????

i am desperate to talk to other people who have dealt with HUMANA HMO. i live in georgia. i have my first consult soon and would like to have some info about this insurance regarding WLS. please help me with any feedback at all. thanks. becky    — becky M. (posted on June 28, 2002)

I have Humana and was approved within 2 weeks of my doctor submitting paperwork. They were very helpful. Called me directly to discuss coverage options and other doctors that also performed the WLS surgery. In fact - my employer added another health plan that was much less expensive BUT I stayed w/Humana (and paid more) because I knew there would be no problems w/them approving my surgery. Note: They pay up-to 95% for surgery. Good luck.

Hi! I have HUMANA HMO. I love it!! They are so great! I called them first to find out which Dr's were covered in-network for WLS. They gave me a name & advsd it needed to be medically necessary and that the Dr's office would help me through the approval process, but if I had any questions to call them directly. They approved my surgery in less than 2weeks. I had followed a letter format my Dr's office gave me(which I am going to have listed on my profile page shortly) for me to put in my own words and give them so they can send my letter along with the doctor's letter to the insurance company. I had no problems getting approved, I have a BMI of 40 and no medically documented co-morbidities. But the usual, achy joints and something to look forward to. OH! I forgot to tell you, my insurance is also through my company. So I don't know if that makes a big difference. But The insurance is paying 100%!!!! I pay absolutly nothing! (unless I want a private room) Everything including my consult, pre-op and post op testing and visits are covered!!

Humana is great. I didnt pay a red cent and am very pleased with them.

I have Humana PPO...and I work for them. They approved in 7 days and the only requirement they have is a psych evaluation. I know other people who also work for Humana and also have had no problem, HMO and PPO.

Becky, I also have Humana/ChoiceCare. I had zero out of the pocket money to pay. I was aproved within one week. No trouble at all. I even called HC before I even seen the surgeon & HC assured me there would be no trouble & there wasn't. You couldn't ask for a better hassel free Insurance.
