Question:
Has anyone chose to go the 70/30 just so they could go to the Bariatric Treatment Center .

I was just wondering if someone chose this way and how much they had to pay after it was all over with.I know every case is diffrent and trust me when I say I would give any amount of money to be healthy again.I am now just waiting for the dr. to review all my records and give a surgery date.    — kevinnbeth (posted on March 29, 2002)

Even though it says 70/30 you will pay the 30% yes but then you also have the remaining balance. I dont know what ins you have but like w/mine if I go to the Dr and it cost 60.00 but the in only approves 50.00 then that extra 10.00 can be billed to you if the Dr is not par. You might want to call your ins and get a run down on benefits. Also the out of pocket maxium even though that my be 1000 that would only be for covered services and you still can be balance billed from the Dr....I would call your ins.....Good Luck! Mindi

Beth- My plan was covered 100% in network and 80/20 out of network. I have chosen to go to BTC out of network. First I have a 1500 max out of pocket, but like the earlier poster, that is for what is called reasonable and custoary expenses. What I did was called my insurance and talked to them, explained the4 process and what I was doing. She asked me to get some billing codes and amounts from hospital to see how the charges fell into the R&C. They were fine. Also I later found out that BTC is part of what is called a MULTI GROUP PLAN. This basically means that if your ins. is part of it, BTC has agreed to accept the ins.co. reasonable and customary charges. So I know the most I will pay is $1500. Just realize that it doesn't really matter what percentage insurance co.pays, with a $40,000+ surgery your going to pay your out of pocket max. The main reason I chose BTC was for their experience and specialty. They seem more compassinate and understanding to the whole procedure as well as the facility is 100% bariatric. I hope this helps, Good Luck! -David
