Question:
GHI insurance : New York

Does anyone know if GHI is still covering WLS. My cousin just made an appointment to see my surgeon and she told me that they may not be accepting my insurance after December. I called and made an appointment in September for December 12. I'm going to call the surgeon tomorrow, but I am really upset.    — Lisa N. (posted on October 10, 2002)

Had LAP-RNY Tues Oct 8 and home from hospital today. I am insured by GHI in NY. They didnt make it very easy, but if you comply with the requirements of the case manager, you should be OK. My surgeon was not a participating GHI provider and the surgeon was happier that way - claims that the "out of network" payment is higher than that to surgeons in network. Good luck to you.
