Hi Sarah: I live in London and I started off with getting a referral from my family doctor at the time to Dr. Joffe. He is located in Toronto but I think the waiting list is very long. There is also Dr. Yau in Toronto as well. If you go on this web site and look for doctors they will list who is registered for doing the surgery. I think they only way you can get in with any speed is if you want to have the band done because it is definitely not covered by OHIP and then they can get the operating room faster than for the other procedures. If you have any questions feel free to email me [email protected] I had my procedure 2.5 years ago and it was the gastric bypass with Dr. Joffe who is so awesome and I lost 175lbs. and kept it off I have also had the abdominalplasty and was extrememly happy with the results of that as well. Good luck with your journey.

I started by going to a doctor that done the surgery. (Be sure they're covered on your insurance.) He took it from there. He pointed me in the direction I needed to go.

hi there im from nova scotia canada and just recently had wls. First thing you need is a referral from your family doctor. Just get her to fax it to a bariatric surgeon that does wls dr christou does it in ontario then its a waiting game. do a google search on dr christou to come up with his info and fax number. You have to be 100 overweight and maybe do a diet thing for 6 months depends on the msi where you are. Thats about it

Lots of help here, but head over to the Ontario message board and you'll meet some people who are going through the same thing you are in Ontario. here's the link: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/canadianforums/ON/ Cheers Wendy in Sudbury
