Question:
DOES PRE-EXISTING CLAUSE APPLY IN THIS CASE??????

I HAVE BC/BS OF MS AS MY PRIMARY INSURANCE. THEY HAVE DENIED SURGERY OF ANY KIND FOR MORBID OBESITY. I AM ACQUIRING AETNA PPO AS MY SECONDARY INSURANCE. IF THERE IS A PRE-EXSTING CLAUSE WOULD IT APPLY TO ME? I SAW THE DR. OVER A YEAR AGO ABOUT THE SURGERY. WAS DENIED OVER A YEAR AGO. ANY IDEAS???    — stephanie L. (posted on August 17, 2001)

Hi stephanie, the answer would be the same as the answer to your previous question of 08/12/01. I found the question at http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/question.phtml?N=e9976287232 All the best.

I would ask your new insurance plan what consitutes prexisting to them.. since you would be going from one policy to another that may be waived.

I have Aetna Open PPO also. I don't think the pre-existing clause would apply to you because you have been covered without a long gap in your coverage. I'm warning you though, I am getting the total run-around from Aetna. I have been in contact with them for 7 weeks and just recently got someone to call me back telling me that they won't do anything until my surgeon asks for precertification for surgery. Check my profile for my history. Also check out Aetna's website--go to the insurers section and click on Aetna US Healthcare. Good luck to you!
