Question:
Has anyone with UHC Choice Plus received written approval?

I was approved over the phone when at my doctor's appointment on 4-1-02. The insurance girl at the office was given an authorization number. I expected to receive something in writing...but never did. When I called UHC I was told that they do NOT send out approval letters, and was given the same authorization number. I havwe UHC EPO and my roommate Shanna has the same UHC as you and we were both approved and told the same exact thing. I am very worried about that also, but that is their standard way of dealing with patients.

I too had UHC Choice Plus, I never received a letter. I had surgery 3-5-02 and never heard from UHC. The hospital and Doctor were all very comfortable with just the phone approval and authorization number. Congratulations!!!!

I have UHC Options PPO and when I was approved I was told they would send out a letter but have not received it. I'll update if I do receive it.

I have UHC Select Plus POS, and I never received an authorization letter, either. I did receive a generic form letter concerning my hospital stay, though. Funny thing is, I received that letter before I knew I had been approved. I got this letter in the mail talking about my hospital stay, and no one had even told me yet that I was cleared to have surgery! Needless to say, I called UHC the next day, and they informed me over the phone that I had been approved!
