Question:
I have anthem bc/bs is it true that they will stop wls after 1/1/04

I have anthem bc/bs (PPO), I read that anthem is suppose to stop all wls starting 1/1/04. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not.    — penelope R. (posted on December 26, 2003)

I cannot find anything on this on their website under press releases. Maybe it is your company that is choosing to take out the coverage for WLS?

I have surgery scheduled for Jan 16th, 2004, I have BC/BS Anthem Federal and in my new book, the surgery is listed as being covered still. I am in Indiana, so I don't really know, but as for me its still a go.

I finally talked to a customer service rep at anthem bc/bs, She said that each insurance policy is different. That the wls is covered under my plan. Coverage of the wls depends on our own company and not Anthem bc/bs.
