Question:
Has anyone in the DC area had the LapBand done in Mexico? Who does your fills?

Mary, It's important to find a surgeon in your area that does fills, and figure out before going out of country for surgery whether or not that surgeon in your area will agree to follow you up and do fills. It's important to ask what the cost of those fills will be. The surgeon in my local area who does a lot of the Lap Band at last report will not touch any of the patients who went out of country for the Lap Band. There is a place in the state to the north of us who charges $500 per fill, but will take patients who went out of country. Another option to consider is having a sleeve gastrectomy. It's where they remove about 75 to 80% of your stomach, leaving the pylorus intact, and gives a lot of restriction - but without the foreign body implanted. Then, no need for fills or adjustments to a band, either. Hope that helps some. Blessings, dina
