Question:
How long will I need to wait for insurance approval when I change over to

my DH policy? I have proof that I have had continous coverage with my employer and I'm only changing because his insurance covers WLS and my employer insurance does not. His insurance is a PPO so I will not need a referal. I'm just curious how long I should wait to call a surgeon.And If i do it to soon, I worry that the insurance won't approve it.    — Helen L. Good question! I'm having WLS this coming Monday and I'm also a benefits manager. You will not have to worry about any pre-existing clause as you will be coming from another insurance carrier. Once you are on your husband's policy you're good to go. Generally policies that cover this surgery state that it must me medically necessary (100 lbs over your optimal weight or a bit less and some morbidities). I would get started as soon as your policy goes into effect!
