Question:
Will ins. let me change surgeons, after approval for initial consult has been given?

My ins. (PacifiCare) approved me for initial consult w/surgeon, but my surgeon I asked for is gone for 2 wks & I must have surgery before end of yr as my ins. ends then. I need to find a surgeon who can get it done by yr's end, does anyone know if the ins. will let me change surgeons? (there is none in the network) Thank..Raulene    — Raulene C. I think if you have HMO/PPO you can get another surgeon as long as he is in their directory/network. Don't know about regular insurance.

Hi, I too have PacifiCare , but in Colorado. I changed surgeons after I got the referal with no hassles. I just called my PCP told them the the first surgeon could not see me for a long time, and they called PacifiCare and got my new referal, within a few hours. As long as they are in the PacifiCare network, there should be no hassle at all. Best of luck to you!!
