Question:
Need to hear from OK BC/BS/Blue Choice members

I have filed my first appeal letter after a denial because of an exclusion "regardless of diagnosis" and am in the process of my 2nd appeal request. Has anyone been successful in getting an approval from the appeal board. I'm so disheartened but far from giving up. Help please.    — Carol B. (posted on November 20, 2001)

Check to see if your company had the exclusion clause written in. I have BCBS - Blue Choice of MA and had absolutely no problems being approved.

Hi Carol, we have emailed a time or two, but I have had some input since then. My insurance is BCBS BlueChoice here in Oklahoma also, but I don't have a complete exclusion. They are working with me now by letting me proceed with the cardio, gastro, psych and pulm. specialist visits, then they will decide what happens beyond that. I wish I could be of more help, but even though we have the same company, we must not have the same type policy. I wonder if perhaps you could pick up a policy with them that doesn't have complete exclusions on wls? Mine will consider it on the basis of medical necessity. Good luck.
