Question:
Cigna wants dietician and physical therapy before they will approve

I had my consult with the surgeon yesterday and was told that Cigna HMO now wants a nutritional and physical therapy consult before they will approve surgery. Has anyone had to do this? Is it a new requirment of Cigna? I wonder if this is a new stall tactic they are using. Thanks to all!    — Siddy I. (posted on July 30, 2002)

I have Cigna in Virginia and had to have a 12-week physician supervised diet records before I was approved. Personally I think it's just a stalling tactic.
