Question:
How long does it usually take for a insurance company to approve the surgery?

Carla, I have PHS/HealthNet...It took them 2 days back in May and I was given a 6 month window. I had surgery in August.

I have Horizon PPO in NJ and was approved in 2 weeks. Good luck. I think in the library section of this site you can look up the comments of other folks who have the same insurance you do. It was very helpful to me.

24 hours thru HMA (Wa State), but that was after they received it from the doctors....which took over a week. It would have taken longer if I hadn't called my surgeon's insurance person and reminded her to send it. Don't be a nag, but don't just figure they're on the ball either.
