Not a rumor. I work for BCBSFL and it is TRUE ! As of April 1, 2003 WLS
will no longer be covered. It depends on when your group renews. If it is
prior to 04/01/03 WLS will be covered until your next renewal period. If
you renew on of after 04/01/03 NO COVERAGE !! As a WLS patient, I think it
stinks that BCBSFL and lots of other insurance companies will no longer pay
for this LIFE SAVING surgery.

Sharon, is this something BCBS is doing across all states? I just changed
from united healthcare to BCBS in Atlanta and had been trying to get
approved for over a year with UHC.

All BCBS are independently owned and operated. I know that several BCBS
plans currently don't pay for WLS and FL is next. I have heard that ALOT
of other insurances are trying to stop paying for the surgery.
