Question:
Pictures of rash for your apron or panni

I am going to see my doctor about my apron and the rash I have been experiencing. I have used the powders and creams and I am hoping to have surgery in December to do the tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. Do you have any pics of how bad your rash or skin irritations were before they could document to do surgery. I just want to know how much info they need. It is so weird to take pics of my stomach when it is all irritated or even when it isn't. Please email me. Thank you. :)    — Suzann G. (posted on October 5, 2004)

I take a picture everytime I have any kind of rash or sore anywhere. I have a consult with a plastic surgeon on Thursday and want to make sure they have all the info they need for insurance purposes. I gave pictures to my surgeon and my pcp as well.

Be sure to date or time stamp your pictures if possible. The outside reviewer that eventually overturned my denial commented that my pictures were not dated. Good luck!!!

My surgeon didn't even take my pictures to submit. With BCBS if you have lost 100lbs. they cover the lower abdominalplasty. I had kept all this documentation and pictures and they didn't even need it. I guess I was lucky. I am 8 weeks out from my abdominalplasty and I couldn't be happier. Good luck to you.

Since I have received a few emails questions my previous post I wanted to expand my answer. BCBS told my surgeon's office that with my policy the lower abdominalplasty was covered if you had lost over 100 lbs. Many people in my local support group are getting the same answer when requesting preapproval. I would advise anyone to check with their insurance to see what the policy states.

I was recently turned down for a panni by bc/bs. my doctor even submitted pictures. I have lost 120 lbs and desperately want this procedure done. i'm not sure what else to do to get it approved. my family doctor wouldn't send in a letter of support for the panni as she feels it's for cosmetic reasons, even though I have rashes, etc. Best of luck to you. I am currently trying to get approval for the same thing, so far we have submitted pictures and they really don't seem to care about that part, so hopefully afterI get the documentation of treatment for the rashes that will be enough for them to approve it.
