Hey there, I myself am on TriCare Prime, and the only things are that you HAVE to have a BMI of 40 or above, be 100 pounds overweight AND a comorbity (a comorbity is a health related problem associated with weight, like..hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea etc...)OR be 200% over your ideal body weight. BE persistant is what I am told. I have been and I am waiting for an approval right now. Good Luck to you feel free to email me!

Hi, I am also a Tricare patient. I had no problems in getting an approval. You did not say where you live but I do know that alot of military hospitals are doing this surgery. The Army does it I know at the Military Hospital in Augusta Georgia. Someone told me they also do it at Fort Knox, Kentucky. You should check with the local tricare rep at you closely military facility. But if you meet the guidelines listed in the post above you will have no problem. They also covered all my expenses.
