Question:
My insurance

Two questions...(Ray, you out there???) My chosen surgeon happens to be in my new insurance "network"..yes, an HMO. Can I schedule an appt. with him without a referral from a pcp? Also, when should I do this...now or after Sept. 1st? Of course I'm eager and want to save time, but if I schedule an appt. now, someone had mentioned something about having a "pre-existing condition" and they might not cover it??? Of course my obesity is pre-existing...like, for thirty years :o) But the surgeon is hard to get in to see for consults, and it would be so much easier if I can schedule the appt. now, and actually see him then after Sept. 1st. Thoughts??? I think at one time I read Ray said if the surgeon is in your network you can go to him without a pcp referral. That would make my life so much easier, for sure.    — Linda J.
