I think that your chances should be pretty good. I am fighting the battle with Cigna right now, but my BMI is 41 and has only been that for a little over a year. They are trying to say that my BMI has not been over for a year. But it has. But I think their policy is you must have a BMI of OVER 40 for at least a year, and that actually look at 1 to 3 years. So you should be good to go. Good luck!!

You have a VERY good chance with CIGNA!! I got aproved in a week, due to my surgeons office taking 5 days to submit the info. I weigh in the .300 range too and it as a breeze, just make sure you have your pcp and any specialists give yu areferral. Thats all I did. GOOD LUCK!

you should have a good chance with CIGNA. i tried to get approval 4 yrs ago. they turned me down saying it was not medically needed. at 300 lbs and 5'3 i did not agree but didn't know that i could appeal. so in 2002 i tried again only this time i was 370 lbs. i was a pproved after the first letter and have had no problem with them paying for all the post op visit as well. i had a ppo which i was told gives you a better chance of getting approved. I am now 3 and 1/2 mo post op and down 90 lbs.

YOUR CHANGES WITH CIGNA ARE GREAT..I WAS APPROVED IN 2.5 WEEKS....BUT THEW MAIN DECCISON IS UP TO YOUR MEDICAL GROUP. I SENT 5 YEARS WEIGHT AND MEDICAL HISTORY..LIST OF ALL THE DIETS AND I SENT MY PARENTS WEIGHT LOSS HISTORY AND SHOWED HOW UNSUCCESSFUL THEY WHERE. I WAS SO HAPPY TO BE APPROVED...I ALSO SENT DISABIILITY PAPERS MY DOCTOR SENT TO PROVE A STROBER CASE....YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH PAPER WORK..GOOD LUCK
