Question:
What are the procedure codes?

I remember reading through the message boards that someone posted the codes for WLS. They said there were two codes. Do you know them?    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on July 23, 2002)

Ann, I could be so far off on this, but the procedure codes on my insurance EOB for the surgeon's "Gastric Bypass for Obesity" are 43846. I hope this helps. This was only his part for the actual procedure.

Ann, Your Dr is the one that knows all about the Procedure codes. If Doctor is in doubt as what Procedure Codes to put in, Doctor can always call your Insurance Co to get this Infomation. This is just an extra worry you don't need to worry about.

I really don't knwo procedure codes, but I do know if the wrong one is chosen, you can get denied. It must have morbid obesity in the name. Just obesity is not enough.

I think the codes you saw were "morbid obesity" is 278.01 and "obesity" was 278.0. I wrote them down when I saw them. Don't know if you or I really need them... but I did write them down. Hope this is what you were looking for!!! Kristy Marshall in Fairborn, Ohio
