Question:
Does anyone know of a Doctor in the VA or NC area that does AGB or VBG surgery?
I have contacted UNC and Duke University and neither of the two had doctors that performed either procedure. PLEASE HELP! — Sherri W. (posted on August 12, 2002)

You can try Dr. Gregory Schroeder, he is in Richmond VA, and out of Saint
Marys hospital. When I went for my first visit he briefly talked about it.
So he might do it. I do now know his phone number, however if you clieck on
Find a Doc, then VA, then you will see his name and number, Thank you and

If you're willing to travel a little farther south, Dr. J.K. Champion in
Atlanta has been specializing in laparascopic bariatric surgery since 1994.
He is one of the pioneers in lap WLS and is internationally renowned. Our
family lives in NC and traveled to Atlanta for the surgery. He has
patients who come to him from all over the US. He offers proximal RNY, AGB

HI Sherri, My surgeons name is Dr. Hazim Elariny and he does the AGB as
well as the VBG. He is located in Arlington VA and is great to work with.
You can go to his web site www.alagsa.com. There is also a yahoo group
for his patients DS_Elariny. Good luck and best wishes. There are several
people in the yahoo group that have had the procedure(s) you are looking
into.
