Question:
Need help finding new Insurance Company

I asked this question on the Message board but I need all the help I can get. I just found out that I might not qualify for WLS through DSHS (I do not have enough Co morbidities). My BMI is 53.1 and I am 150 overweight at least. I know I qualify by DR's standards but, through DSHS I do not. I need help finding a new Individual Health Insurance Plan so that I may get mY Surgery through them instead. If anybody can terll me there company and how difficult it was to get WLS and there criteria would be so wonderful. Please Help I am desparate. Thank you so much. Amanda    — Amanda A. Amanda, I'm not sure which WLS you're interested in, but let me recommend Oxford PPO. My BMI was 40 (when I went in for my first preop consult) & I had no co-morbidities. I was approved in a day or so. (Actually, I was approved twice because I decided to go with one of the other surgeons in the office so I wouldn't have to pay a thing. Both were approved within 1 or 2 days). Best of luck, A

Depending on where you live, you may not qualify for individual health insurance. I'm a licensed sales agent in Ohio and all individual health insurance companies would decline you just based on your height/weight. However, each state is different. Check with your state's department of insurance for a list of insurance companies and see what is offered.
