Question:
I was approved for a consultation - what are my chances for surgery approval?

My medical group approved a "surgical consultation" for me in 9/99 after first requesting a psychiatric evaluation, a nutritional evaluation and a diet history. My medical group also paid for all my pre-op lab work including a gallbladder ultrasound. Would be a safe assumption that they would approve my surgery also? I am tenatively scheduled for 11/1/99 ... and I just found out yesterday that my surgeon's office still has not submitted the paperwork to my insurance company (bcca-hmo). Please advise. I would hate to have spent the last several weeks/months writing letters and jumping throught hoops for nothing.    — B. B. (posted on October 14, 1999)
