Question:
2 weeks before surgery and I'm eating like a razorback!

My brain must've switched into deprivation mode because I'm eating everything in sight -- even foods I've never craved. I'm looking for suggestions as to how I can rein in my eating before my 3/13/00 open RNY. This gluttony is unhealthy. Anyone else experience the "last supper" effect?    — julie W. It is called the Last Supper Syndrome. I took LSS to a new level. I ate everything that wasn't nailed down. It is soooooo normal. I wouldnt worry too much about it. However if it really concerns you you may want to talk to a dietician or nutritional counselor. I hope I have helped some. Take care.

I am having the same problem. My Patient administrator at my Doctors office sais this is normal. He had the surgery as well as his wife and they gained 20 lbs just in the time from when their surgery was shceduled. Good luck and control will come easier soon. Julie, Julie, Julie. I'm cracking up here! This is so normal. I went even further than some, I made a list! Everything I wanted to eat just in case I could never eat it again. Places I wanted to eat at because I loved a particular dish. For example, the chocolate cake at Rainforest Cafe.....now there's something I definitely can't eat now so I'm glad I had that last piece. Most of the things on my list I can eat, but I wanted to go into the surgery with 'no regrets', and I have none! Good luck with your surgery. Jaye

I did exactly the same thing, except I was doing it intentionally. I ate every meal as if it was my last supper, steak, ice cream, anything really fat and bad for you I ate it. My blood sugar would skyrocket, but I still did it.

JULIE: I DID THE SAME THING, I ATE EVERYTHING I FIGURED I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO EAT AGAIN. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE DR. FOR MY 2 WEEK CHECK UP THEY ASKED IF I HAD GAINED MORE BEFORE THE SURGERY YES I DID 10 LBS. I HAD MY SURGERY ON DECEMBER 1, 1999, AND TO DATE I HAVE LOST 64 LBS. SO IT COMES OFF AS EASY AS IT GOES ON. GOOD LUCK.
