Question:
Anyone have any problems getting Medicare Part A&B to Pay ???
I only have Medicare Part A&B for insurance as I am on disability. I want to get this surgery done as I have numerous medical problems due to my weight. Any information or advice is greatly appreciated on this. Thanks — Debby A. (posted on March 2, 2003)

My best friend was in the same position as you Debbie. Medicare A and B
both paid the entire cost of her surgery except the 800. co-pay and the
hospital billed for that. She didn't have to pay up front. The surgeon
took Medicare assignment which meant he accepted what they paid him and did
not bill her for more. Her surgery was in November. We are in Kentucky
but Medicare is a federal program and is the same all over.

I have medicare A and B, but have not had surgery yet. I have been told
that it make even be earier on some level with medicare because Dr's arent
required to get pre authorization before surgery if you meet a certain
criteria.
If you call 1-800-medicare you can ask to speak to someone.They have a
dept that just handles benefits covered.

I am also on disability and Medicare A and B. I had my surgery 1-21-03 and
have had no problems with them paying so far. I think it depends a lot on
how the surgeon presents the info to the insurance company. Good luck on
