Tricare approves weight loss surgery if you are at least 100 lbs over weight. If you are Prime, Tricare pays for the operation completly, but if you are Champus, they only pay about 80 percent, YOU pay the rest. I am not an insurance person, but I am a military dependent of a retired Marine. You can e-mail me and I will tell you what I know. [email protected]

Hi Jacqueline, My husband was retired military. I have Tricare Standard but I also have Fleet Reserve supplimenal insurace. I had my surgery 8/24/00. Between the two insurances it was covered. It did not cost me anything. I am 57 and would live to chat. E-mail me at [email protected].
