Question:
Anyone with BMI under 50, with no comorbids, get approval?

I am asking for my friend, and am wondering if anyone with a BMI under 50 (is 46), with no cormorbids get approval by Kaiser Southern California in 2002? Did you have to appeal and what was the process? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.    — Diana L. (posted on October 21, 2002)

Although I haven't gotten my "offical" approval from So.CA Kaiser yet, I am in the process of doing all that is required for surgery approval. I have a BMI of 45.9. I hope this helps..You can check my profile for updates to my surgery "quest." Best of luck to you...Aims

I have Aetna and my BMI was 43 and I had no co-morbs. I'm only 25 years old. I got approved in less than 2 weeks, no questions asked! I also had no dr supervised diets...we just noted that I had many discussions regarding dietary changes and losing weight. No problem!
