Question:
I would like to change to a different medical group & a new PCP?

I live in Windsor, CA. I have Pacificare and would like to change medical groups and PCP. I understand Sutter Medical group is not supportive of WLS surgery. I would really like to have the DS with Drs. Rabkin in San Francisco. Does anyone else have Pacificare and a supportive medical group and PCP in my area?    — Deborah G. Hi, I have Healthnet HMO, but have a similar problem with medical groups. For my insurance, many medical groups refer to UCSF, and the only one I found that refers to Drs. Rabkin is Brown and Toland. Take a look at Dr. Rabkin's website... they have some good information on insurance and payment.

I went to Brown & TOland last week since they are the only group with a contract with Dr Rabkin. But they [not pacificare] have a stupid policy to make you go on their $300 a month liquid diet before they will refer you. It does not matter if you tried previous medically supervised programs with anyone else..you have to do their program. By the way...their 800 cal/day liquid thing has a failure rate of over 80% and I don't know how on earth it is healthy. I think it is to get rid of people who simply eat too much and haven't made an real attempts. I've switched to Alta BAtes Grp who can refer to Dr Jossart in SanFran...got my first apt for Feb 3rd. Fingers crossed.
