Question:
negotiated rates vs. out of network

Does any one have an idea of what their actual negotiated rates were if the used an in network Dr. and hospital? (I will be with united health care in TX. hopefully using Dr. McCarty and Baylor hospital. My policy has a max per hospital visit/surgery and I am just trying to get an idea of how much I am going to pay. THANK YOU!!!!!    — Jenn J. (posted on April 7, 2003)

Of course costs vary on location and doctor, but my insurance (pacific life and annuity) have a contract with SouthCrest hospital in Oklahoma for $13,000 without complications, of course they will up that if any problems occur. My doctor who is in network is approx. $6000, then annesthesia is approx $1300 and physicians assistant fee of about $1000. Be sure to check what your "out of pocket max" is!!

Call and ask, if they know how to find the info, they will tell you. You may need to ask for a supervisor, but they can tell you.
