Question:
Has anyone struggled with BC/BS of SE Michigan for gastric bypass?

I am 35 and have made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery done. I have been overweight all my life! -- I called the Cori Center and they told me that my insurance Blue Care Network of South East Michigan would deny me 2 times then make me go in front of a review board to plead my case - has anyone else gone through this and how long did it take? I have bcbs ppo and before sending my paperwok in I called1-800-533-1120 prompts 2-5-4-4-1 and had the csr do what she had to do in the computer. Start you per cert. file. Then I hung up and called back using the following prompts 2-5-4-4-2 and spoke with the RN and ask what they would need from my DR. I had what they needed and I asked for their fax # and she gave it to me and called me back to let me know they got it. They called me back the next day (today 7-21-04) and told me that I was approved and would mail me my letter. Please let me know if this works for anyone else [email protected]
