Question:
Insurance Approved, but now group is no longer doing

My lap RNY was approved by PacifiCare in March, and I have/had a surgical date set for May 30th with Dr. Ho of Valley Surgical Specialists. Someone near and dear to me also had approval and a date at St. Agnes in Fresno, but now there are some "issues" with PacifiCare HMO and St. Agnes, and his surgery has been cancelled! The Surgical Group has decided not to do any "elective" procedures in April, and maybe not until or after May. So...what do we do? I woudl talk w/ the clinic.. or who ever can give you the specifics. Why would they not be doing surgeries? Are they having malpractice problems or what is going on? I would check for red flags. It may be that you should find another group to go through. I can imagine how dissapointing it could be to start over again.. but something doesn't sound right. Good luck.
