Question:
I don't mean to sound facetious, but---

What do you have to do to qualify for medicade. The ins. I have now is being quite stubborn. Would it be easier to divorce my husband(after nearly 30 years) and not have any ins coverage at all. Do you have to be indigent or on welfare? With all my health problems I could probably get disability even though I do work part-time as a nurse.    — [Anonymous] (posted on August 28, 2001)

It varies state by state.. most do require pretty indigent or some may let you qualify for a spend down program depending on your outstanding medical bills you currentl have. If you can qualify for Medicare they typically pay for this and that might be a better shot.. but sounds like you work so may not be able to get that. There is also vocation rehab that can help but that may not work since you work now too. I just dont know :(

You should mention what state you are from. Sometimes these things vary from state to state.
