Question:
Has anyone has surgery at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Ypsilanti??

I have BC/BS. Dr. B at The Bariatric Treatment Center in Ypsilanti is out of network. I know my insurance will pay in nertwork fees because my PCP filled out the referral papers, BUT has anyone had surgery there, and had it out of network with BC/BS PPO? I am wondering if I will have to pay anything out of pocket to the Doctor????    — [Anonymous] (posted on January 2, 2002)

Hi, I went for my pre-testing last week and when they went through the charges they told me that all I would be responsible for would be my in-network maximum out of pocket. The doctor would accept what BCBS PPO would pay for. You might want to double check though.

Hey!! You are IN LUCK!! I have the same insurance you do, and I had my rny done laproscopically with Dr. Kevin Krause in Royal Oak, MI. I also know two others who had the lap rny with him and we are doing great!!! Read my profile, and email me if you want more info about him or help with BCBS!! Dr. Krause is awesome! His number is 248-551-8180 and he is at the Medical Building at Beaumont in Royal Oak! Don't go to BTC when you will KNOW you are completely covered with Dr. Krause because he is our IN NETWORK doctor!!! :) (I was so excited when I found him, and knew I didn't have to pay 20% at BTC... because BCBS WILL make you pay that 20% because they do have a network doc now. I almost went to BTC, too... ask me about what BTC tried to get me to do, if you are interested!) Good Luck!!

I used BTC in MI and loved them. The approval process is ather slow, but the care and staff are wonderful. I have Unicare, and with approval I thought everything was covered, as they didn't tell me otherwise, but then at my pre admission testing I was told I would have to pay over $5000 and I freaked, but after calling the insurance company we were able to get it reduced to just under $2000 because there were no "in-network" doctors. It sucked, but it was definitely worth it. The insurance reps at BTC should be able to help with your questions too, they have probably deal with hundreds of people with your insurance. I hope everything works out for you! :) Good Luck!
