Question:
Could anyone let me know of any WLS support groups in the Pittsburgh,PA area?

Hi. My surgeon Dr Schauers group welcomes EVERYONE! Lots of quinlans patients attend ours. It the FIRST wednesday of each month at Montefiore hospitals auditorium, right next to Presp and next to the parking garage. Me and Jen will be there, its tomorrow night at 7 PM. Please come and say hi! We are leaving thursday morning for a carribean cruise but planned our schedule to attend the group meeting. Its that important to us. Jen lost 80+ pounds me at goal - 130 or so. Ask for me I am a personality there.

Hi Connie: I agree with Bob, Dr. Schauer's group is excellent (and I am a Quinlan patient as well) The only issue I had with it is that it is HUGE....there are so many people there that the first time it was overwhelming. I will not be there tomorrow, but ask for Bob. Another avenue you may try is the website at www.wlscenter.com. It is run by Barbara Thompson, a WLS patient from Pittsburgh that had written a book on the subject. She usually attends the Schauer support group meetings as well, but she also maintains a calender on her website that will show other meetings, lectures, etc. that might be of interest to you.
