Question:
Hi All- All of my paperwork is about to be admitted to AETNA/HMO this week.

I am worried they may say no. It looks like,per the website that they are pro WLS but, I am starting to panic. I have a BMI of 49 and heart history deaths/issues in the family. Any help or support would be greatly appreciated.    — Deb K. (posted on July 18, 2002)

Deb, don't sweat it. My BMI was 43, no co-morbids, 27 years old. I was approved in no time. Good luck

Deb, I too had.have Aetna/USHealthcare HMO. I was approved in less than a week! I gave them more information than was needed up-front. My starting BMI was 58. I am sure you will do fine. I did hear that they (Aetna) changed their approval process sometime in April. If that does not work in your favor...DON'T GIVE UP! Fight for your rights. Give all the info they may request. Hi Deb, I have Aetna HMO and was approved in 2 days. This, of course, was after I found the fax number for pre-certification and the doctor's office faxed in the paperwork. I had given them an incorrect address to mail it in,and it was 2 weeks before I was aware that it was a wrong adress, but that was my fault. So really, I was approved in 2 weeks and 2 days! Good luck!

Hi! I was approved with Aetna/HMO in one day. I had a BMI of 47, and no major comorbidities - just reflux and diabetes in family. Good Luck! I'm sure you'll do fine!
