Question:
I was contacted by a program called Liv-Lit, can anyone tell about them?

They contacted me and said that I am a candiate for the surgery. They were going to contact my insurance company to see if they pay for the surgery. If they do then a physician was going to contact me. How long does this uusually take? And will they contact you if denied?    — Jodi B. (posted on November 5, 2002)

I originally started out using that program. They were wonderful about getting me an approval, but they got the approval for a procedure they don't even do at that particular facility. So I was lucky and able to get that approval transferred in. I had to keep on top of them they said they faxed things and the insurance said they never got it after they took all my info after they found my ins. would cover it took 3 months for my approval heard of some take less time some more just stay on top of them. Good luck. Alicia

Hi Jodie, I was also contacted by Liv-Lite and in fact will be having surgery through them on Dec. 30. (YEA!) They have a website. I am having mine in Warren, Mi. I see you are in Ohio, so this would probably be the closest one to you or Pennsylvania. The doctors are wonderful and so is the staff. Most of them do the micropouch RNY gastric bypass but I don't know if all of them do. But you can look them up on both www.Liv-lite.com and www.micropouch.com. They have monthly seminars which are very informative and are given by the doctors. Good luck and check them out. Please e-mail me @ [email protected] with any questions or just to let me know what you think.

Jodi (spelled it right this time :)) I haven't had a problem with insurance yet. Amy at liv-lite said she is POSITIVE it will go through. THey keep telling me I have great insurance. (Hope those aren't famous last words). But I am also having a revision from a VBG, so maybe that makes a difference. Again good luck.

I went through Liv-Lit in Junction City, KS. They were absolutely wonderful. No complaints at all. They took care of me from beginning to end. I first contacted them in mid 12/01. I had my insurance approval before the end of the month and had my first appt with them on 1/3/02, pre-op testing 1/29/02, and surgery (open RNY) on 3/6/02. The director even visited me in the hospital. We have terrific monthly support group meetings. I think it is a wonderful group to work with.

Hi, Jodi!! I'm going through the Liv-Lite program, too. They're located in Warren, MI. As a matter of fact, my consultation with Dr. Wood is Friday, 11/8/02. I'm so excited! They're a great bunch of people. I had insurance problems from the beginning and they were so helpful in trying to get them to approve me. Unfortunately they were not able to preform miracles, so I have to self-pay, but they went out of their way to help me. Good luck in whatever you decide to do!!
