Question:
Has anyone 400+ had the lap band surgery and if so how much did you lose?

My father had the lap band surgery in Jan. '02, he was over 400 lbs at the
time. He has lost around 130 lbs, but I know his eating habits are not the
best still, so that may have hampered his progress.

I was banded at 372 pounds, but I'm still too new to say how much I will
end up losing. So far I've lost about 30 pounds, but I'm just getting
started. I second the advice to join

There are many banded people on that list who started at more than 400
pounds. Do a search there for messages by "ptchedtke" (aka
Patricia). She started out at 404 pounds, now weighs 192 pounds, and still
losing!
