Question:
Has anyone had DS/BPD covered by Federal BCBS

I got my denial, because they state it is an "investigative" proceedure. I would like anyones thoughts on this.    — Wendy H. (posted on March 4, 2000)

I am a county employee and have the same insurance that all New York State employees have -- Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. They have covered the BPD with Duoden Switch for me and several of my co-worker friends with a 72 hour approval turnaround. Perhaps your surgeon's office should contact my surgeon's office to find out how to submit claims for maximum coverage. Let me know if you need more help and don't let the insurance companies make medical and personal decisions for you.

I also had BC/BS through FEHB. Under my plan it cost too much for the surgery with all my deductiables. I got into another plan PacifiCare of Oregon where the deductiable was small. I had surgery 3 weeks ago. The reason I got it done was that I "moved" to Oregon from Idaho. It helped to know people from that area too. I hope that you will also get your surgery, good luck!
