Question:
Does RMHMO, Colorado cover RNY surgery?

Has anyone used Rocky Mountain HMO in Colorado for RNY coverage? I've searched my policy and find no answers to my questions. Any info greatly appreciated!!!    — Deborah P. (posted on September 20, 2000)

my friend was just approved for rny thru rocky mountain hmo, she had the VGB 6 years ago thru them also. I talked to them, and they do cover it if it is medically necessary, like anyone would have it if it wasnt, lol. I am getting insurance thru them this week, as my ppo would not budge. good luck!

well, my mistake. The lady at Rocky Mountain told me they covered it, then my friend that was verbally approved all of a sudden got a denial letter in the mail. I called them again, and they put me in touch with the benifits specialist--who read the exclusion-no treatment for obesity, morbid obesity, thru any means including surgical! sheesh, I guess they have it all covered. So why didnt the other people who worked for them know this?

I have Rocky Mountian HMO C-1000 and there is an exclusion in the policy. Look in your exclusions and see if there is a statement excluding surgery for obesity. OH!! I am fighting it. My hearing is scheduled 11-6. Please pray for me and I will reciplicate. Best of luck!!!
