Question:
Anthem BC/BS of Nevada

Who in nevada especially Reno area who as been approved or denied? Which surgeon did you choose? I would like to know. I am thinking about purchasing this insurance. I've been told by Western Surgical Group in reno that they do not accept this insurance.    — Renee C. (posted on November 21, 2001)

hi. i am a federal bc/bs insurance holder. i believe it is governed by anthem of nevada. i was approved for wls in less than 48 hours of the request being submitted. i also was considering 2 different drs & was approved for both. i am having surgery in phoenix az on dec 11 by dr newhoff. he is a bc/bs participating dr & so is the hospital he uses. the other dr is not a participating dr & gets cash up front. there is a dr here in las vegas who does wls & is a bc/bs participant but the hospital he uses is not a participating hospital, & they get paid up front, which is why i had to go looking elsewhere. good luck to u.

I am having my open RNY Dec. 21 with Dr. Skogerson in Carson City. Never had any trouble with BC/BS of Nevada. I was approved with in 48 hours. He is a great Dr. He did my gall bladder surgery already and I can't wait for WLS! Let me know if you need any other info.
